If you’re going to San Francisco, be sure to wear…something good to go concert and show hopping in, because this summer has a full lineup of talent and—well, some pseudo talent that still may be enjoyable to watch. If you’re in the Bay Area, stopping by one of the following concerts or musicals could be one of the highlights of your summer. Here are 10 hot summer concerts and a reason to attend each one.
10. The Blue Man Group throughout the summer
Golden Gate Theater
I’ve never seen them but I hear they are pretty amazing. Plus, there is the fact that they are blue. Did you know?
9. Cats throughout May
Orpheum Theater
Because you know you want to see it—and if you have teens in the house who haven’t yet, you’ve got to take them, too. Sure, you could probably go any year, but why not this year?
8. Taylor Swift on September 1 and 2
HP Pavilion
If you like country music, you’ll love Taylor—but even people like me who don’t like the genre much like Taylor. She’s too cute to not like, and when you hear that Romeo and Juliet song she sings, you can’t help but sort of sing along, even if you find it to be a guilty pleasure.
7. Rush on June 26
Sleep Train Pavilion
I once saw a Rush show done to laser lights at the Science Center and I bet it was even cooler to the people who were watching it while high. A live concert, however, would surely be more cool.
6. Eddie Vedder on July 11
Paramount Theater
Ever since Vedder did the soundtrack for Into the Wild, I’ve thought he’s had a pretty solid career solo—and would love to see him perform.
5. India.Arie on July 17
Uptown Theater Napa
This could very well be the best concert you attend all summer. Bring your sweetheart.
4. Katy Perry on August 12
HP Pavilion
As much as I enjoy making fun of Katy Perry’s lyrics, she’s pretty cool, and like Gaga, is famous for making people of all walks of life feel loved no matter what they look like or who they are.
3. Hugh Jackman on various dates and locations
Not only do you have about a dozen opportunities to see Hugh Jackman perform; you’ve also got the opportunity to get even hotter during the summer months. Bring a fan.
2. U2 on June 7
Overstock.com Coliseum
Good luck getting tickets to this one; they’re sold out in St. Louis for an even later date. They’ve had the most wildly successful tour in history, so why not be a part of it?
1. Glee Live on May 24 and 25
HP Pavilion
You should just go because I can’t, since they’re not coming to St. Louis this year. They’d better next year, though! If you’re a fan, this has to be the ultimate Glee experience. It will so top the Glee calendar I have in my office for sure…
